The beginning of the development of the ZIL-131 dates back to the mid-fifties of the twentieth century. Its predecessor, the ZIL-157, was just a modernization of the ZIS-151. From the beginning, the ZIL-131 was conceived as a completely new three-axle car for military use. Development began under the designation ZIS-131 and the first prototype was presented in 1956. At that time, it still had many identical features to the two-ZIL-130.<\/span><\/p>

O tri roky nesk\u00f4r, v roku 1959 bolo testovanie prototypov \u00faspe\u0161ne dokon\u010den\u00e9 a v r\u00e1mci destaliniz\u00e1cie bol automobil premenovan\u00fd na ZIL-131. V\u00fdrobn\u00fd z\u00e1vod bol toti\u017e premenovan\u00fd z p\u00f4vodn\u00e9ho n\u00e1zvu Zavod imeni Stalina na Zavod imeni Licha\u010dov. Po\u010diatok v\u00fdroby bol pl\u00e1novan\u00fd na rok 1961 alebo 1962, ale v\u00fdrobu sa nepodarilo za\u010da\u0165. A\u017e v roku 1964 za\u010dala s\u00e9riov\u00e1 produkcia dvojn\u00e1pravov\u00fdch vozidiel ZIL-130 a v roku 1967 za\u010dala v\u00fdroba komplikovanej\u0161\u00edch vozidiel ZIL-131. Niektor\u00e9 kon\u0161truk\u010dn\u00e9 skupiny, ako napr\u00edklad n\u00e1pravy alebo navijaky boli vyr\u00e1ban\u00e9 v z\u00e1vode v Brjansku (Brjansk\u00fd automobilov\u00fd z\u00e1vod).<\/span>
